Kindergartener

I can't believe how quickly time flies.  As I watch Kadence go through the stages of learning to eat, walk and talk, I think back to when Kamden was her age.  We talk about his first words, and how he used to say Daddy (with emphasis on the eeee).  He was never as adventurous as Kadence, being very content to sit in his high chair, unbuckled nonetheless.

Then I get his school pictures from Kindergarten, and I wonder how he got to be so big.   He has already lost his first tooth and can get dressed without any help (though he still lets me pick out his clothes).  He sits at the table and does his homework with little assistance.  And he is starting to read books on his own (but still loves to be read to).

We had our first parent-teacher conference.  Mr. Walker, his teacher, only had good things to say about Kamden.  He shared that he is one of the strongest math kids in the class, and right in the middle of the class in regards to reading and writing.  This totally makes sense to us....He learned his numbers at an early age by keeping track of all of the Nascar drivers.  And he amazed us early on that he knew basic adding and subtracting with little practice.  Mr. Walker also shared that Kamden needs little redirection.  He is a great listener and does what is asked of him.

I sometimes wonder how he turned out to be such a great kid!  I hope this trend continues throughout the rest of his life.  I think he is an awesome kid who is fun to around.  He loves to make his sister laugh and play with her.  But he is just as content to play with his Nascars or a game of War, the card game.

Go Bucks!

It's a football Saturday so that means it is time to don the Buckeye gear.  I have to admit that my two Buckeyes are pretty cute!

While we were all playing in Kadence's room, Justin decided to get out his trumpet.  I don't think this instrument has been out of its box since the Spring of 2008 when Justin quit teaching and changed careers to law enforcement.  He was showing it to Kamden and teaching him how to blow air through it.  Kamden really wants to learn to play the guitar like his teacher, Mr. Walker.  But Justin insists that he learn to play the piano first.  Who knows....maybe Kamden will become a musician like his daddy!

It's the Great Pumpkin!

I am not looking forward to the cold weather, but I am looking forward to fall.  I love the changing colors of the leaves, picking apples, and going to the pumpkin patch.  It's my goal every year to find the perfect pumpkin.  You know, the one that looks great sitting on the front porch through October and November.  This year I had two little helpers find that perfect pumpkin!

She's on the move

We officially have a walking girl in the house.  Kadence took her first step about 3 weeks ago, and was very cautious about being on the go.  But this weekend, she has really taken off and there is no stopping her!  As soon as I figure out how to post a video, I will put one up!

Fall Soccer 2014

This is the 5th season that Kamden has played soccer with i9 Sports.  He loves it and has improved with every game.  What I think is really cool, is that he has played with one of the boys, Seeley, for all 5 seasons and one of the girls, Ainsley, for the past 4 seasons.  And this season his cousin Brooks has joined the team!  As of this point they are undefeated!

Missing Tooth

Kamden will have a visit from a special person tonight...the tooth fairy!  His tooth has been loose for at least a month.  While we were at dinner tonight at Red Lobster, Kamden took a bite of his chicken tender.  With a worried look on his face, he started saying "Daddy...Daddy..."  We looked at him, and realized that he was pointing to his tooth.  He reached in his mouth with his fingers and very gently pulled out his tooth.  To everyone's amazement, Justin told him to put his bloody tooth in his hand while Kamden took a drink.  We were so surprised how easily it came out, and how grown up he became with that one missing tooth.  Before bed tonight, we stuck his tooth into a special pillow and laid it on his headboard.  Now, I wonder what the tooth fairy will bring this special boy?!?!

Bubbles, Bubbles

Bubbles can be so much fun,
especially through the eyes of a one-year old!
