Happy 1st Birthday, KadyBug!

I can't believe Kadence has been a part of the Hibbitt family for one year now.  It seems like just yesterday that she was was still in my belly, and we were preparing for her arrival.  But, on the other hand, it seems like she has been with us forever!  I have enjoyed spending this summer with her and watching her grow.  She definitely has her mommy and daddy (and even her big brother) wrapped around their fingers.

Though Kadence can say Da-Da and Ma-Ma (at times), she has her own way of communicating.  She just simply points that little index finger towards the direction of the things she wants, and kicks her legs and laughs whenever we get close to it.  She is not walking yet, but I think she will before we know it.  She is starting to cruise all around the furniture, and she is just starting to stand at times without holding on to something.

Kadence loves to play pat-a-cake.  Her silliest face is when she sticks her tongue out.  And her favorite song, and one that will calm her down, is Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.  She plays often independently, but loves it when her brother plays with her.  Kadence is great at giving hugs.  And she is also adopting mommy's love of books!

Kadence's nickname has always been KadyBug, so it was fitting to have a ladybug theme for her 1st birthday party.  We tried to incorporate the lady bug theme throughout the entire.  From the red and black decorations to the picnic theme food to the dessert table, ladybugs could be found hidden everywhere.  Kadence did a great job with the smash cake.  She wasn't shy at all taking her first bite.  We even gave her a fork to make it easier for her to get bites of the cake, and she knew exactly what to do with it.

Ladybug cookies
Ladybug cupcakes and smash cake
We had "picnic" food to eat

Sandwiches, fruit, pasta salad, and chips

First time eating with a fork and she knew exactly what to do!
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with Kadence!

Happy Birthday, Kadybug!

Kamden's 1st day of Kindergarten

Today marked Kamden's first day as an elementary school student.  He is attending Mark Twain Elementary.  I was so very proud of him.  He walked into his classroom without any hesitation.  I think Kadence and mommy had more emotions going through us than Kamden showed.  He did tell me after school that he was a little nervous about starting school but he was not scared at all!  I can't believe how much he has grown up in the past two years.  We have gone from being a weepy kid at every school drop-off to Mr. Independent!
